HELCOM Stakeholder Conference 2020

The Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP), HELCOM’s strategic programme of actions and measures for a healthier Baltic Sea, is due to be updated by 2021. With the HELCOM Stakeholder Conference 2020, HELCOM offered its stakeholders the opportunity to be part of this process.

The 2020 HELCOM Stakeholder Conference “For a sustainable Baltic Sea: The Baltic Sea Action Plan beyond 2021” was held in Helsinki on 3 March 2020.

The outcomes of the 2020 HELCOM Stakeholder Conference was brought forward to the 41st Meeting of the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM 41-2020) held from 4 to 5 March 2020.

Outcome of the conference

A total of 49 new actions to be considered for inclusion in the updated BSAP were voiced during the conference that attracted over 120 participants.

The proposed actions will now be forwarded to the relevant HELCOM working groups for further consideration and possible additional development within HELCOM and the BSAP update processes.
