Pollution Load Compilations
HELCOM regularly produces a Pollution Load Compilation (PLC) which assesses the data collected by the Contracting Parties on total air and waterborne inputs of nutrients and some hazardous substances to the Baltic Sea. PLC are an important part of HELCOM´s assessment system on the status of the Baltic marine environment since 1987.
The Baltic Sea Action Plan offers a framework for nutrient input reduction by reaching levels close to natural concentrations. Based on PLC, targets have been set for every Contracting Party to reach the desired environmental status of the sea in HELCOM Nutrient reduction scheme.
