HELCOM Expert Group on Hazardous Substances
The HELCOM Expert Group on Hazardous Substances facilitates and further develops the coordination of regional work on hazardous substances, in support of the implementation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan and its relevant goals (‘Baltic Sea unaffected by hazardous substances and litter’) and subsequent commitments.
Further, the Group is a platform for exchange of experiences as well as harmonization of methods concerning the work with hazardous substances, indicators and integrated assessments.
The HELCOM expert network on hazardous substances (EN-HZ) was established in 2015 and in 2021 the scope and mandate of the group was widened and the name of the group was also changed to Expert Group on Hazardous Substances (EG Haz). Also, the HELCOM Correspondence Group on Pharmaceuticals (CG PHARMA) established in 2016 was merged to EG Haz in 2021.
