Species and Biotopes
HELCOM work regarding species and habitats is carried out under the State and Conservation working group and contains inter alia the following activities/products:
- Regular red listing of species and habitats
- HELCOM habitat and biotope classification system (HUB)
- Work on Baltic Sea marine protected areas (HELCOM MPAs)
- Production and update of biodiversity related Baltic Sea Environment Fact Sheets (BSEFS)
- Continuous assessments, including for example the following:
- Follow-up of HELCOM Recommendations related to protection and conservation of species and biotopes
- Work on biodiversity core indicators.
