HELCOM eutrophication core indicators evaluate the status of the Baltic Sea as reflected by concentrations of nutrients in the water, water clarity and algae blooms as well as oxygen concentration.
The core indicators are commonly agreed tools to follow up on the progress made towards the Baltic Sea Action Plan overall goal of achieving good environmental status in the Baltic Sea by 2021.
